An intense exploration of color and texture created during the pandemic in 2020 - a time filled with emotions, uncertainty, and fear. This piece channels all of that into layers of deep red, structural relief, and fragments of handmade paper with golden swirl patterns.

The Process:: Large sections of the canvas are covered with handmade paper featuring golden swirl patterns - you can feel both the paper's texture and the gold patterns with your hands. Against this, I built up thick applications of structural paste using various spatulas to create different raised textures across the surface.

In the center of the work, I applied a small section of my self-made crackle paste - a formula I developed that naturally cracks as it dries, creating organic fissures I can't control or plan. It's a surrender to the materials, letting them tell their own story.

The raised structures invite touch. This isn't just something to look at - it's a tactile experience.

Materialien: Acrylic paint, hand-sculpted structural paste (applied with various spatulas), self-made crackle medium, handmade paper with gold swirl patterns, gold spray paint.
